Diane Miller

Diane Miller is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music and also New York State Certified: which is a statement of high professional standards and commitment to excellence. This Professional Certification is in Applied Music, and Piano, from the Music Teachers National Association.

She gives piano and voice lessons at Miller Music Studios at her home in Middletown, New York. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in performance and music education in piano and voice from the Ithaca College School of Music. She also has a Diploma from the former Shumiatcher School of Music in Westchester County where she was later on the faculty teaching both the Suzuki and Conservatory approaches in piano.

Mrs. Miller has experience as a music teacher in the public school system; teaching K-12 Elementary through High School music history, music literature and theory, Kodaly and Orff Schulwerk. She is an experienced accompanist, church pianist and choral director.

She has concertized at Steinway Hall, New York City, and has performed on WNYC Radio. She has also concertized in Westchester County and in upstate New York concert halls, theatres and churches. She was competition winner in the National Collegiate Category of the New York State Music Teachers Association, District 7.

Mrs. Miller is the Chairman of the National Guild of Piano Teachers in Middletown, NY and is the Ambassador of the Royal American Conservatory Exams in this locale. As an active member of the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC), she serves as Chairman of the Middletown Division Annual Spring Music Festival, a position she has held since 1993. She serves on the Board of Directors and as Student Auditions Chairman for the State of New York Collegiate Level Piano Competition for NFMC. As an active member of Music Teachers National Association, District 5, she has served as Treasurer and Judges Committee Chairman for the Annual December Music Festival and have served as Music Festival Chairman.

Currently Mrs. Miller is continuing her studies of the Taubman Piano Performance Technique privately with Sondra Tammam, Co-Director of the Taubman Institute in New York City. Diane is a Seminar Associate of the Dorothy Taubman Siminar held in Lincoln Center, Juliard Building in New York City. She has studied privately with Constance Keene from the Manhattan School of Music, Bella Shumiatcher, Simone Belsky, Beveridge Webster who were all Juilliard Professors, Martino Tirimo in London, England formerly of the Royal Academy of Music, Mary Ann Covert, Orissa Jensen, Miriam Brickman, Katherine Teves-Mizruchi all concert pianists, and Margaret Kirchner from the Diller-Quaile School of Music, and has performed in Master Class with Ruth Laredo.

Mrs. Miller teaches beginners through advanced levels. Her students perform solo and joint recitals (both piano and vocal) and receive high awards and honors in competitions and adjudications.
